IP Rated Enclosures Range

OKW IP rated enclosures are tested in accordance with the international standards VDE 0470 PART 1 /EN 60529 / IEC 529.

Our extensive range of plastic enclosures is available with protection classes of IP54, IP65 and IP66. The range includes sealed handheld, desktop, terminal and wall mounted enclosures. IP rating is either supplied
as standard as on our wall mount enclosures, or as an option by fitting accessory sealing gaskets, as on our
hand held enclosures.

Our enclosures are manufactured to the highest quality standards which ensures consistant fit and finish on
all batches, therefore, you can be sure that every enclosure will conform to its IP rating. IP54 is commonly
specified for indoor applications to ensure that accidental splashes do not harm the equipment. IP65 and
IP66 are specified for harsher indoor industrial or outdoor applications.

IP54 Enclosures

To achieve the IP54 rating the enclosures must conform to the following specifications: First digit 5 - protection from foreign
objects and deposits of dust - Total protection of persons from contact with voltage carrying or internal moving parts.
Protection of the object from harmful deposits of dust. Ingress of dust is not completely prevented, but dust is prevented
from entering in a quantity that would impair the functioning of the object. Second digit 4 - protection against splash
water - Water splashing against the object from all directions must not have any harmful effect.

IP65 Enclosures

To achieve the IP65 rating the enclosures must conform to the following specifications: First digit 6 - protection from foreign
objects and ingress of dust - total protection of persons from contact with voltage carrying or internal moving parts.
Protection of the object from ingress of dust. Second digit 5 - protection against jet water - A jet of water nozzeled against
the object from all directions must not have any harmful effect.

IP66 Enclosures

To achieve the IP66 rating the enclosures must conform to the following specifications: First digit 6 - protection from foreign
objects and ingress of dust - total protection of persons from contact with voltage carrying or internal moving parts. Protection
of the object from ingress of dust. Second digit 6 - protection against flooding - Water of temporary flooding, as in heavy
seas, must not enter the object in any harmful quantity.
