Following customer demand, OKW have extended their innovative SOFT-CASE enclosures with the new size ‘XL’ series. These new models have been designed for larger mobile electronics.
Typical applications will include handheld instrumentation, medical devices, mobile data logging and data capture equipment and much more.
These handheld enclosures have been designed to enhance the visual impact and tactile quality of modern electronic devices. With the addition of the ‘XL’ series there are now four standard sizes: 2.00” x 3.26” x 0.55” (S), 2.55” x 4.13” x 0.74” (M), 2.87” x 4.56” x 0.94” (L), 3.62” x 5.90” x 1.10” (XL).
SOFT-CASE enclosures can uniquely be used for wide format LCDs and Keypads. The top part has a wide recessed area for locating the display or membrane keypad. Also, a raised panel on the long edge of the base part is provided for USB, power or serial connectors and controls.
The enclosures are molded in off-white or lava gray ABS, or in black infra-red PMMA (UL 94 HB). The new ‘XL’ series is available with or without a battery compartment which will accept four 1.5V AA cells. The other case sizes will accept two 1.5V AAA cells (M), and two 1.5V AA cells or one 9V cell (L).
Screw pillars are provided in the top and base parts for fitting the PCBs, and the cases are assembled by four self-tapping screws.
Accessories include a range of intermediate ring moldings which increase the internal height. These are offered in the three case colors, or chrome plated, or in soft TPE material which provides IP 54 protection. The TPE material also offers bump protection.
OKW can supply the SOFT-CASES with additional holes for the push-buttons, connectors and displays etc., plus silk-screen printed legends and logos, and RFI/EMI shielding.
