UNIQUE HIGH QUALITY EXTRUDED ENCLOSURES

OKW has launched its radical new SYNERGY electronic enclosures range – its first to feature both plastic and aluminum for added strength and versatility.

SYNERGY is a range of 36 individual enclosures with a very high quality surface finish. The elegant design is perfect for modern high value handheld, desktop and wall mounted electronics equipment.

Typical applications will include medical and therapeutic systems, measurement and control technology, home automation, peripherals, building services electronics and much more.

SYNERGY features OKW’s new fast-connect system based around four internal assembly pillars which hold each enclosure together. The glass reinforced polyamide pillars snap in to the recessed top panel, locate the assembly extrusion and are fixed to the bottom part with four stainless steel Torx T10 anti-tamper screws. Several pillars can be snapped together to create custom heights in 0.20” increments on request.

The main body section of each case is extruded from AlMgSi 0.5 aluminum. It is blasted with glass beads and anodized in silver (or black on request) to create a very high quality finish. All the anodizing is done by a specialist company which works for German manufacturers of high end TV and home entertainment systems.

SYNERGY’s top and base sections are manufactured from UV-resistant ASA+PC-FR (UL 94 V-0). They are black (RAL 9005) as standard but custom colors can be specified on demand. PCBs can be mounted in the top and bottom for maximum versatility and efficient use of space. Cables of up to ø 0.12” can be routed out of the bottom part. There is also plenty of space for interfaces on the other surfaces.

SYNERGY is available now in Square and Edge (rectangular) shapes with Round and Oval cases due to follow almost immediately. Square models are offered in three plan sizes: 3.94” x 3.94”; 4.72” x 4.72”; 5.51” x 5.51”, all in heights of 1.57”, 2.76” or 3.94”. Edge (rectangular) models are also offered in three plan sizes: 6.30” x 3.15”; 7.09” x 3.54”; 7.87” x 3.94”, all in 1.57”, 2.76” or 3.94”.

Options and accessories include battery compartments for three or four 1.5V AA cells, an extender kit for the PCB pillars, and a wall suspension kit (SYNERGY can be wall mounted with only one screw).

Prices for SYNERGY start at $47. Customization services include CNC milling and drilling, printing or engraving of legends and logos, special finishes, keypads and assembly.
