Enclosures that can be handheld or mounted

Tablets are taking over. In just a few years they have become ubiquitous…but that hasn’t made them any less fragile. Take any product that is predominantly glass into a challenging environment (especially outdoors) and it’s fairly obvious what could happen. So you need tough IP rated electronic enclosures that offer real protection.

Which is why OKW has launched a new slim version of its CARRYTEC portable instrument enclosures – one designed specifically for tablets. Like all CARRYTEC enclosures, the new size M slim model (10.63” x 9.72” x 1.65″) features an ergonomic integrated grip which is both robust and comfortable (thanks to its soft touch TPE insert).

Other features include a large recessed area for a touchscreen or membrane keypad plus inset areas on the underside to protect any interfaces. CARRYTEC can also be inverted for use with suspension arms; the integrated handle makes it easy to maneuver.

Aside from the new size M slim model, there are three other wider sizes in the range: S (8.74” x 8.07” x 3.15”), M (10.63” x 9.72” x 3.58”) and L (13.70” x 11.93” x 4.61”). They are all offered as standard in either Off White (RAL 9002) ABS (UL 94 HB) for indoor use or Lava Gray ASA+PC-FR (UL 94 V-0) for outdoor applications such as agriculture or forestry.

The wider models can accept a battery cradle which accommodates five AA cells and there are also charging/data transfer stations – available with or without base plate – for desktop use or wall mounting. Many CARRYTEC enclosures will be used in the medical sector which has highly specific requirements.

For that reason, all the cases come with stainless steel Torx T10 tamperproof screws as standard and specially designed bedrail clamps as an accessory. Other accessories include a carrying strap plus left- and right-side protection bags for transporting any instrument probes or cables.

These side bags have been designed in such a way that a probe can remain connected to the main unit at all times if required – removing the need to connect and disconnect it repeatedly.

And like all OKW enclosures, CARRYTEC offers a wide range of customization possibilities such as CNC milling and drilling; custom colors; special materials (such as bioplastic); RFI shielding; special finishes (lacquering and water transfer printing); digital, silk-screen and tampo printing; membrane keypads and display windows.
