New 125 Size Of EVOTEC Designer Tabletop Enclosures

EVOTEC range of modern desktop/wall-mount enclosures

Why EVOTEC Plastic Enclosures?

What makes an electronic enclosure popular? In a very crowded marketplace what sets one cuboid box apart from all the others? In the case of EVOTEC, the answer is very simple – curves. But then these are not just any curves…

In a world of angular boxes, EVOTEC’s curves pull off several very neat design tricks. Firstly, those sweeping soft contours look bigger than they actually are, thanks to some very clever bevelling on the lid. So they look and feel very comfortable without sacrificing too much space inside.

Secondly, those curves are timeless. So they look modern without shouting about it, without the risk of ever looking dated in a few years. And thirdly, they’re very discreet – so one electronic device housed in an EVOTEC enclosure will never appear to be a clone of another (especially with a few simple customization flourishes). The end result is an enclosure that looks both brand new and reassuringly familiar – all at the same time.

This helps to explain why the EVOTEC range has been such a success for applications including measurement and control engineering, medical, laboratory and environmental technology, IT and IoT/IIoT. This popularity has prompted the addition of so many new sizes and variations since EVOTEC’s launch just a few years ago. And now there’s a new size: EVOTEC 125…

New EVOTEC enclosures - 125 size models

New EVOTEC 125 (Version I)

EVOTEC suits a wide range of desktop and wall-mount applications – from measurement and control to medical, laboratory and environmental technology to IT, IoT/IIoT and gateways. There are three versions:

  • Version I – flat top, unrecessed lid
  • Version II – sloping top, unrecessed lid
  • Version III – sloping top, recessed lid.

And until recently, you would have thought the EVOTEC range was pretty much complete. The flat-top Version I started at size 80 and then from 100 rose in increments of 50 up to 250 (80, 100, 150, 200, 250). But the new 125 size targets a key area of demand. This new plan size measures 4.92" x 3.07" – with the enclosures available in two heights: 1.18" and 1.45".

Like all the other flat-top EVOTEC sizes (and the sloping top version), the new 125 size is molded from ASA+PC-FR. This ensures a high degree of strength and also UV stability. All the enclosures are off-white (RAL 9002) as standard; custom colors are available on request.

EVOTEC enclosures with ergonomic sloping front panel

Sloping-Top EVOTEC Enclosures

EVOTEC’s two sloping-top versions are both inclined by 12° for optimal viewing and operation. This is particularly useful for wall-mount keypad electronics in applications such as security and access control. (At this point, it’s worth noting that flat-top EVOTEC is good for wall-mounted sensors for IoT/IIoT).

Sadly, sloping-top EVOTEC is not available in a 125 size at the moment; the nearest size is 150 with a recessed lid. However, two other sizes are available: 200 or 250 – and both offer the choice of either a recessed or an unrecessed top.

Accessories for EVOTEC electronic enclosures

Accessories For EVOTEC Enclosures

IP 65 seals are available for all EVOTEC enclosures, enhancing their ingress protection. IP 65 offers complete protection against dust and a good degree of protection against jets of water. The test involves 12.5 litres of water per minute (30 kPa pressure) being sprayed at the enclosure from a distance of three metres for at least 15 minutes. Find out more here about IP ratings.

Accessories also include:

  • A concealed wall suspension element that is suitable for any small plastic enclosure with a flat base. The adapter’s smart design enables you to clip EVOTEC into its wall-mounted holder quickly and easily. Two screws can be used to secure the enclosure in place. The design features tamperproof Torx screws, a key requirement for medical devices
  • A fastening element for TH35 and G32 DIN rails. It is suitable for EVOTEC sizes 100, 125 and 150.
  • A Torx T8 screwdriver
  • Self-tapping screws (2.5 x 6 mm) – choose from PZ1 or T8.
