SMART-CASE enclosures

SMART-CASE – OUR MOST POPULAR HANDHELD ENCLOSURE

Contoured SMART-CASE is a timeless little gem that’s great to hold thanks to its ergonomic design for maximum user comfort. It’s highly versatile and is specified regularly for applications including test and measurement, detection, mobile USB solutions and remote controls (infrared-permeable PMMA is available as standard).

But it’s in the field of medical electronics where SMART-CASE has truly made its mark, for applications including bed controllers, diagnostics and staff presence/alert technology. The wide range of accessories includes holding clamps for hospital bed rails.

SMART-CASE builds in choice from the word go: you can have an XS that’s the perfect key fob for remote controls – or sizes, M, L and XL which are available with/without a battery compartment (or with/without a cable gland for wired electronics). And that’s just the starting point, before you get to the choice of plastic (ABS or PMMA), color (off-white RAL 9002 or black RAL 9005) and all the customization options.

But it’s the sheer number of accessories available that provides a clue to SMART-CASE’s enduring longevity as we’ve added more and more over the years to meet demand from customers. Accessories include docking stations, wall holders, seals (offering protection up to IP 65), a belt/pocket clip, lanyard, a battery holder, and various battery contacts and clips.

STYLE-CASE enclosures

STYLE-CASE: THE CLUE IS IN THE NAME…

If you like SMART-CASE, then it’s well worth taking a look at STYLE-CASE too (as so many electronics designers and specifiers do already). Comparisons between the two housings are inevitable, given that STYLE-CASE looks like a more streamlined version of our aforementioned bestseller.

And they occupy similar territory – again in the healthcare sector where STYLE-CASE underlines its credentials by being:

  • moulded from high-gloss traffic-white ASA (which is very easy to wipe clean) or IR-permeable PMMA (black)
  • assembled with tamperproof Torx screws, much favoured for medical devices.

Again there is ingress protection up to IP 65 (optional). And an integrated battery compartment that can accommodate 2 x AA or 2 x AAA cells. But unlike SMART-CASE, there’s no key fob size XS for STYLE-CASE – the smallest is size S (123 x 48 x 24 mm).

SOFT-CASE enclosures

SOFT-CASE – WIDE-FORMAT HANDHELD ENCLOSURES

With a landscape wide-format design, SOFT-CASE is the enclosure to specify for larger displays. Comfortable contours make these ABS housings very tactile, and a range of optional intermediate rings in ABS, PMMA or soft-touch SEBS add height and capacity; the SEBS rings also provide IP 54 ingress protection. 

SOFT-CASE can be specified:

  • without a battery compartment – choose from four sizes (S, M, L, XL)
  • with a battery compartment (2 x AAA, 2 x AA, 4 x AA, 1 x 9 V) – three sizes (M, L, XL).

A raised connector mounting panel on the wide edge offers plenty of space for interfaces. Accessories include a tilt foot bar for desktop use and a Combi-Clip for belts/pockets and wall suspension.

DATEC-CONTROL enclosures

DATEC CONTROL – FOR LCD GRAPHICS DISPLAYS

Highly specialized enclosures such as DATEC-CONTROL prove overwhelmingly that it’s possible to create an enclosure for a specific role – and yet still retain its versatility and discretion of design.

DATEC-CONTROL (IP 54/65 optional) is the ‘go to’ enclosure for standard-sized LCDs and graphics display modules. Despite its size and capacity, the housing’s ergonomic curves and narrow holding area make it comfortable to operate for long periods – perfect for mobile data collection/transfer, measuring and control, medical and wellness devices, and Industry 4.0/Smart Factory technology.

These ABS enclosures are available in four sizes, offering a generous array of battery options: 2/3/4/5 x AA, 1 x 9 V. Sizes M and L feature plug-in cradles and protected mounting for a PCMCIA card. Accessories include desk and wall stations, wall suspension elements, battery compartments and soft-touch protectors with/without a strap.

DATEC-MOBIL-BOX enclosures

DATEC-MOBIL BOX – IP 65 HANDHELD ENCLOSURES FOR TOUGH ENVIRONMENTS

These robust, high-performance ABS enclosures are designed to house a range of standard LCD modules: 2”-LC-Glass, 2 x 16, 4 x 16, 2 x 20, 4 x 20. There is also a version without a display window.

Like other OKW enclosures, DATEC-MOBIL-BOX features a recessed operating area for a membrane keypad. Three plan sizes are available, two of which (S and L) can be specified either with or without a battery compartment.

IP 65 ingress protection is optional with the addition of a seal. Accessories also include a tilt foot bar for canting during desktop use and wall suspension elements for secure storage. There is also a soft-touch SBS (TPE) protector for size L.

You can specify any of our enclosures fully customized. We do all the work in-house – so we’re fully accountable for the quality, consistency and delivery of your enclosures throughout the whole process.

Customization services include CNC machining, lacquering, digital printing of legends, logos and photo-quality graphics, laser marking, decor foils, special materials, RFI/EMI shielding, installation and assembly of accessories.
